A New Mysterious Dungeon Set?

Different from Diamond & Pearl, this new entry isn't one of the main RPG entries in the Pokemon franchise (most notably, it isn't the expected third entry in the Diamond & Pearl series). Instead, developer Chunsoft is once again taking on the license for an as-yet unnamed dual SKU release set for Japan some time this year.

Chunsoft previously worked on Pokémon Mysterious Dungeon, a dual SKU release that hit Japan in late 2005 (followed by international releases in 2006), with one entry coming to the DS and one to the Game Boy Advance. This unexpected pairing of the Mysterious Dungeon series with Pokemon was a huge worldwide hit, selling over 5.5 million copies.

This time, both versions of the game will be on the DS, allowing Chunsoft to further take advantage of the DS's unique feature set. The game will make better use of the dual screens, and will even include Wi-Fi support. The game's designers are hoping to give players the feeling of playing with others.

That's all we know at this point. It's unclear if the new game will be a Mysterious Dungeon title. But we're pretty sure it will have Pokemon, and that should be good enough! With a 2007 release, specifics shouldn't be too far off.

CoroCoro Announcement!

CoroCoro, a Japanese gaming magazine, announced in their current April issue that a new Pokémon game will be revealed in the next issue (the Coro Coro May issue). The same announcement is also at CoroCoro's official website. The CoroCoro May issue will be available next month, on April 15, 2007. No further details were given about the new Pokémon game.

As it was previously announced a few months ago, Nintendo would be giving out free Stylus to any person who pre-orders Pokémon Diamond or Pokemon Pearl, before its release date later next month.

Well the time has come. Ebgames and Game Stop has began to take in pre-orders for both games, each game featuring a different stylus. Below are the two different types of stylus. The game is also selling for a retail price of $34.99. Click image to pre-order now.

CARTOON NETWORK Schedule Correcction

The premiere of Pokémon Diamond/Pearl will not be aired on March 10, as previously speculated. Cartoon Network's schedule originally listed a new episode (but no episode title) to be aired on March 10th, at 9:30 AM. This lead to the belief that the Pokémon Diamond/Pearl series will be premiere at that time slot. However, that time slot was later left blank on the schedule. And now, CartoonNetwork.com's schedule currently lists "Fear Factor Phony!" (the first episode of Pokémon: Battle Frontier) as the March 10th, 9:30 AM time slot.

Pokemon Ranger and the Prince of the Sea

The premiere of Pokémon Ranger and the Prince of the Sea on Cartoon Network is still scheduled for March 23rd, at 7:00 PM (for more Cartoon Network movie schedules in the month of March, go here: ToonZone: Cartoon Network Movies for March 2007)

Manaphy Password

Well it looks like Pokémon USA has released the Manaphy Password on the official Pokémon website, www.pokemon.com.

New information is given on how to enter the Manaphy Egg password once you have completed the 3 previously announced missions, and have unlocked the Ranger Net, as well as the NEW PASSWORD itself!!

Remember these first steps after you beaten the game and defeated the 3 legendary Pokémon in Fiore Temple:

Access the Ranger Net after finishing the game. Click on Ranger Net on your main menu.
Your screen should display a "Play a special mission". Press the Top Right Trigger, the X Button, and the Left Directional Pad simultaneously on your NDS.
You should see a screen that says "Enter the password has been added." confirming your key presses above.
Tap the touch screen and wait as the game saves.
Once your game has saved, tap the screen again and a new menu will come up that says "Enter the Password".
When you click on it, you'll be allowed to enter the password.
Now ENTER the password, which is shown below.

According to PokeAni.com, Dialga vs. Palkia, the next Pokémon movie, will also feature a Diamond and Pearl event-only legendary Pokemon (which are either Sheimi, Arseus, or Darkrai). The Pokemon will be revealed in next month's issue of CoroCoro on February 15th. If you read the Diamond and Pearl in-game legend that is posted, understand it, and the legend turns out to be true, you may already know who the Pokémon is (I know who the legend refers to, but the legend relating to the movie is another story).

Happy new year! 2007 will bring a lot of new developments for Pokémon. Here's what you can expect from Pokemon in 2007:

Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea (April 3, 2007)

Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea will be on DVD on April 3, 2007. The ninth Pokémon movie, features Manaphy. The movie also features many of the new Pokemon that will appear in Pokémon Diamond/Pearl.

Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl (April 22, 2007)

Pokémon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl are next major Pokémon games since Pokémon Emerald, to be released on April 22, 2007. Pokémon Emerald became the second best selling game of 2005 in the US. Pokémon Diamond/Pearl has been breaking sales records in Japan (5 million units sold already), and Pokémon Diamond/Pearl are expected to enjoy similar success here in the US.

JAKKS Pacific: Pokémon Toys (Spring 2007)

JAKKS Pacific, an American toy company, announced back in June 2006 that it would launch the Pokémon product line in North America in Spring 2007, as well as various international territories, including Canada, South America, Central America, Mexico and more. So expect to see more Pokémon toy products.

Pokémon Diamond/Pearl TCG Set (TBA)

Just as the same way Pokémon Diamond/Pearl will change how players play Pokémon on the Nintendo DS, the Pokémon Diamond/Pearl TCG set will change how Pokemon TCG players play the game as well. The set features new game mechanics such as weakness and resistance values (it use to be weakness equals 2 times damage and resistance equals 30 damage decreased, but different values can now be placed for weakness and resistance depending on the card). Many other new game mechanics are introduced as well. And of course, the new Pokémon from Diamond/Pearl will be featured. No official release date is available for this set yet, but expect it sometime in Spring 2007.

Pokémon TCG Events (March-July 2007)

Many Pokémon TCG events will be running from March 2007 through July 2007. The State Championships will be held during March, Regional Championships during April 2007, Battle Road Tournaments during May 2007, and National Championships during Spring through July 2007.

2007 Pokémon TCG World Championships (August 10-12, 2007)

The 2007 Pokémon TCG World Championships will be held on August 10-12, 2007, at the Hilton Waikoloa Village in Kona, Hawaii. Players from around the world will compete with each other at the highest level of competition.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl (2007)

Although not a Pokémon title entirely, Pokémon fans can enjoy this game as Pikachu returns in Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii. The game is expected to be released sometime in 2007.

What else can we expect? The Manaphy code was suppose to be released in December 2006, when it was announced it would be available "later this month." That month has come and gone, so expect the Manaphy code to be released sometime soon.

Although there has been no official announcement, the Pokémon Video Game National Championships (and other similar events like Journey Across America) might make a return in 2007. These events were a huge success, with huge turnouts at locations across the US. So we definitely hope these events will be back for yet another year.

PokéPark, the temporary theme park debuted in Japan in 2005. In 2006, the theme park moved to Taiwan. It was announced that the PokePark will run for five years through 2010. After the Taiwan visit, the PokéPark will visit another location. The locations being considered are the United States, Europe, and Shanghai (China).

Well, it is 2007 now, for those of you that stayed up untill midnight, you realized it was nothing special. All you do now is say 2007 instead of 2006, big deal! If you watched the ball drop, that was noce, it you were on the east coast that is, other wise it would be an hour or three early. In this new year I hope to hear from you all in the future, and on Gamé with Famé in Pokémon Battle Revolution! Be warned, I've gotten good! I'll be a Pokémon Master soon! JirachiRob, DDeoxys, and JPPokémon all wish everyone a very prosperous and healthy new year! A lot happened in 2006, and a lot will happen in this year, 2007, too! Last day of 2006, how sad! Tommorrow will bring a lot of firsts, the first time you wake, the first time you sleep. Tomorrow will be a fresh start for us all. Seing how I live on the East Coast, I will experience 2006 first! If you talk to me, I'll tell you how it feels. Also here is a first, err... second? last? of 2006, the is surprisinly not going to be any nXt Episodes/eP untill Saturday, Jauary 13, 2006! We'll just have to wait all together. For all you fans wondering when new Pokémon toys are coming out, your wait will soon be over. Pokémon USA (www.pokemon.com) has just announced some upcoming toy releases with a sneak peak view of some of the 3 inch figures.

The new toys will become available starting in January, 2007 at PokémonCenter.com and your favorite toy store, according the the news brief.

Toys announced today and Pokémon featured include:

Deluxe Figures: Talking, sometimes will light-up (Pikachu)
Battle Spinners: A Poké Ball-like top with a Pokémon figure inside that can be spun and made to do battle with other Spinners (Mudkip, Blaziken)
Figures: Three-inch figures available individually and in multipacks (Pikachu, Squirtle, Lucario, Munchlax)

Pokémon Hits the Charts, HARD

The week is unusual in that although only one title sold above 100,000 units the sales for the rest of the top ten were remarkably even, with multiple games sharing the expanded business of the week. The top sellers were the two Nintendo DS Pokémon games, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, with the dual SKU title now having sold around 3.5 million copies in Japan alone.

The highest new entry of the week was a DS entry in ChunSoft’s core Mystery Dungeon series, one of the few games in the franchise which does not use a cross company license from Nintendo or Square Enix. The latest in the Wild Arms role-playing series also performed well at number eight, as did Pokémon Battle Revolution – the first major new release since the launch of the Wii and its first online title.

Western gamers though may be surprised to find that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has charted only at number thirty-three, while the only other Wii titles outside the top ten are Wii Play at number twelve, Wario Ware: Smooth Moves at number thirty-six and anime license Bleach Wii at number fifty.

As is by now commonplace, the Nintendo DS was the best selling hardware of the week by a considerable margin, with a total of 319,866 unit sales. The Wii was next at 108,237 units, followed by the PlayStation 3 at 70,942, the PSP at 48,962 and the PlayStation 2 at 37,730 units.

From our friends over at PPN we have the final Japanese box office earnings for the ninth Pokémon movie, Pokémon Ranger and the Prince of the Sea: Manaphy.

Earnings have been revealed to be ¥3.4 billion (US$29 million), which are the second lowest earnings in history of Pokémon, falling just behind the fourth movie at ¥3.9 billion but ahead of the fifth movie at ¥2.67 billion. However, the ninth movie is the fifth-highest earning Toho movie of the year, facing stiff competition from Gorō Miyazaki's Tales from Earthsea, among others.

Pokémon Ranger and the Prince of the Sea: Manaphy will be released on Region 2 DVD in Japan today.

We have 2 bits of Nintendo news for you today; the first is an announcement of the Opera Browser for the Nintendo Wii console (yay!) Second is a rumor floating around the web of the NDS Lite getting a bigger screen size.

Nintendo's wildly popular Wii™ home video game system not only revolutionizes how people play games, but it also entices new people into the world of gaming. On Dec. 22, Nintendo and Opera Software bring the Internet to the living room couch with a free beta version of the Opera Web browser. Wii owners who are connected and have activated the Wii Shop Channel can download a free beta version of the Opera browser to activate the Internet Channel of the Wii Menu and begin surfing the Web.

"This newest Wii Menu channel provides yet another feature to draw non-gamers in," says Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. "All kinds of people already have discovered that Wii is like nothing they have ever tried before, and our red-hot sales reflect this public enthusiasm."

"Our software brings the power and reach of the Internet to the hottest video game system available," says Scott Hedrick, Executive Vice President, Devices, at Opera Software. "Wii's unique interface adds a new dimension to our browser, making it a useful tool that the whole family will enjoy operating with ease."

The final version of the Opera browser will be available at the end of March 2007, and will be free for all Wii owners to download through the end of June 2007. After June, users who haven't already downloaded the Opera browser can go to the Wii Shop Channel to download it for 500 Wii Points.

Next up is a rumor of bigger NDS screens:

Love them or hate them, Nintendo has got to be one of the smartest marketers on the planet. They saw that the bulky (and somewhat unsightly) Nintendo DS wasn't as popular as it could have been, so they design a sleeker, almost Apple-like DS Lite to appeal to the masses and its popularity spreads like wildfire. Older people fall in love with Brain Age, younger folks with Pokémon, and the rest of us are drawn in by Tetris DS and Mario Kart DS. But wait, they're not done.

Word from a French gaming magazine is that Nintendo is working on yet another version of the Nintendo DS. Whereas the Lite shrunk things down to more pocketable proportions, this yet unnamed iteration will make those trademark dual screens bigger. The new displays will be in the 3.5- to 3.8-inch realm, and they even toss in a couple of other upgrades to spice up the new package even further. If the smaller version is the DS Lite, does that make this the DS Heavy? (for reference, the original unit is unofficially known as the DS Phat)

Still a rumor, but there are rumblings that this new DS will be ready for market some time in 2007.

Manaphy Reavealed!

As promised, the official Pokémon website at www.pokemon.com revealed more information on Manaphy today. The secret code needed to unlock the Manaphy mission in Pokémon Ranger wasn't revealed (it will be revealed later this month at the official Pokemon site). However, the official US title for the 9th Pokémon movie was revealed: Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea (the Japanese title was: Pokémon Ranger and the Prince of the Sea). The official site listed Spring 2007 as the release date for the movie (which is the same date we've known for quite a while now). Manaphy Makes Its Appearance

The newest Pokémon to make a splash is Manaphy, star of the upcoming movie, Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea, which is scheduled for release this spring! We don't have a lot of information about Manaphy just yet, but we can tell you this - you won't be able to get it by just playing through Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl!

First, you'll have to access a special Ranger Net mission in Pokémon Ranger. This special mission will send you on a quest to search for the Manaphy Egg. Once you clear the mission, you'll be asked to guard the Manaphy egg. You cannot hatch or raise Manaphy in Pokemon Ranger! You can send the egg to Pokemon Diamond and/or Pokemon Pearl, where you can then hatch and raise Manaphy!

Check back later this month for more details on the Manaphy egg mission, including the secret code needed to unlock the special Manaphy mission!

Pokémon Director Speaks About Next Movie

The director of the 10th Pokémon movie, Dialga vs. Palkia, Kunihiko Yuyama (湯山邦彦), wrote about the movie on the official blog for the movie. He explained the rationale for the title and also outlined the plot.
'A lively movie with a festive atmosphere'

Dialga and Palkia are like the face of Diamond and Pearl; as representative Pokémon, I thought I would like to have Dialga and Palkia in the title of the movie... and there's no way to do that except with Dialga vs. Palkia, is there? Usually we discuss with the departments above until a title is selected, but this time unlike previous occasions, we unanimously decided to go with the straight, simple, Dialga vs. Palkia.

Dialga rules time, and Palkia rules space, so the scale of the story is large, but, since the design of Dialga and Palkia was that they lived in an alternate dimension, so we decided that their fight in the alternate dimension would affect reality - the world of Satoshi and friends - Dialga and Palkia will appear before Satoshi and friends and drag the city they have arrived at into it as well - in a manner that will raise the question of, if they destroy this city, isn't it possible that they will destroy the whole world as well?

I would also like to involve the main characters' Pokémon in the movie, who we haven't really been able to portray in the past. Not only Satoshi, Hikari and Takeshi's Pokémon will appear in the movie, but there will also be many Pokémon belonging to guest characters. To put in as a single sentence, I would like it to be a very lively movie with a festive atmosphere.
